Toolsets
Every tool you add costs context and makes the right tool harder to pick. So Curviate groups its tools into toolsets and lists one small default, the same for every client. Anything else is one call away.
The default
Every client gets the same default: these eleven toolsets, plus meta.
| Toolset | What it covers |
|---|---|
accounts | Connect, reconnect and inspect your LinkedIn accounts, and their safety limits |
notifications | Curviate notifications: accounts to reconnect, paused or finished Motions, finished imports |
motions | Create, preview, start, pause and watch Motions, and their Enrollments |
contacts | Import, find, tag and export Contacts, and manage Contact lists |
unibox | Conversations across all your accounts: list, read, reply, start a chat, send InMail |
analytics | Motion results and account activity |
profile | LinkedIn profiles, their recent activity, and your own account's insights |
search | People, companies, posts and services search |
posts | Read and create posts, comment and react |
invites | Connection requests |
compatibility | Cross-entity search and fetch for research workflows |
meta | list_toolsets, enable_toolsets, explain_tools. Always on. |
unibox also answers to its former name messaging: either name works in enable_toolsets and in ?toolsets=.
Opt-in toolsets
Off by default, for every client:
| Toolset | What it covers |
|---|---|
following | Follow, unfollow and endorse members, and list an account's connections, followers and following |
companies | Company pages and their public activity |
company_admin | A company page the account administers, including its inbox |
groups | LinkedIn groups |
feed | The LinkedIn home feed and the account's own LinkedIn notifications |
jobs | Job search and the account's own job postings |
own_content | Edit or delete your own posts and comments, remove reactions, save posts, update your own profile |
sales_navigator, sales_navigator_lists | Sales Navigator search, profiles, messaging, lead and account lists |
recruiter, recruiter_jobs | Recruiter search, projects, pipeline, messaging and jobs |
A toolset outside the default is off only to keep the tool list small; anyone can turn it on with enable_toolsets. None of them is a paid add-on. Sales Navigator and Recruiter tools answer only if the connected LinkedIn account has that LinkedIn product; otherwise the call returns LINKEDIN_FEATURE_NOT_SUBSCRIBED.
list_toolsets returns both lists live, with each toolset's state and the tools inside it.
Changing the set
| Tool or parameter | What it does |
|---|---|
list_toolsets | Lists every toolset with its state (enabled, disabled, or always_on for meta), a one-line purpose, and its tool names. |
enable_toolsets | Takes enable and disable arrays of toolset names. Saves your choices. |
explain_tools | Returns guidance for named tools or a plain-language task, including tools in a disabled toolset, so an agent can decide before enabling. It takes no action. |
?toolsets= on the URL | https://app.curviate.com/mcp?toolsets=accounts,search,unibox pins that connection to exactly those toolsets (plus meta). |
In practice you rarely do this by hand. Ask the agent ("turn on the Sales Navigator tools"), and it calls enable_toolsets.
Your choices are saved per person. enable_toolsets records what you turned on beyond the default and what you turned off inside it. They survive reconnects and apply to every client you connect; they never change a teammate's tool list. Because only your choices are saved, a toolset Curviate later adds to the default reaches you too. A ?toolsets= URL is read when the connection starts and replaces both your saved choices and the default for that connection only; it saves nothing.
Removed tools
These names left MCP. Calling one returns TOOL_REMOVED with the replacement and its toolset; nothing runs. A name that never existed returns the plain unknown-tool error instead.
| Removed | Use instead |
|---|---|
start_chat | send_message with attendee (or send_inmail for an InMail) |
update_chat | mark_chat_read |
edit_message, delete_message | The CLI (curviate core message) or the REST API |
dismiss_notification | dismiss_linkedin_notification, in feed |
Calling a tool whose toolset is off returns TOOLSET_DISABLED, naming the toolset and pointing at enable_toolsets. After a change Curviate tells the client its tool list changed; a client that ignores that notice shows the new tools after it reconnects. See Troubleshooting.
